THE SHORT VERSION
Skip the Plan sends strangers out into the world on your word. Write Detours you’d be glad to see a friend do, and post Field Notes you’d be fine with anyone reading.
A GOOD DETOUR IS
- Legal, safe, and doable on foot or by transit.
- About public places only. Never a home, a backyard, or anywhere restricted.
- Never about following, filming, photographing or confronting a specific person.
- Not built around drinking or drugs.
- Honest about how long it takes and what it costs.
- One clear thing to do, written so a stranger could do it tomorrow.
FIELD NOTES
- Post your own photos of your own Detours.
- Don’t post people who clearly don’t want to be photographed, and never post children you’re not responsible for.
- No nudity, sexual content, violence, hate or harassment.
- No ads, links, promo codes or self-promotion.
- Show the city, never an exact location. The app strips location data from photos for you.
WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMETHING BREAKS THE RULES
- Everything is checked automatically before anyone else sees it. If a Detour or Field Note doesn’t fit, you’ll see why and can change it.
- Anyone can report anything. Reported content may be hidden while it’s checked again. Your report is never shown to the person you reported.
- Repeated problems lead to a warning, then restrictions, then suspension.
- If you think a decision is wrong, appeal it from the decision or through Contact support.
BLOCKING
Block anyone from a report. You won’t see each other’s Detours or Field Notes, and they aren’t told. Manage blocks in Settings → Blocked people.
